Misisipi Mike and Matthew R. Sayles
Misispi Mike Wolf and Matthew R. Sayles are veteran performers of beer halls and night clubs from the Upper Midwest, to the dusty honky-tonks of Nevada, Oregon & California. They've even brought their brand of American roots music to the village pubs and concert halls of Northern Europe and Great Britain.
The duo's performances bounce from up-tempo guitar and dobro picked classic country, early rock & roll, roadhouse blues, Americana ballads, and bluegrass, in a style that’s similar to other contemporary roots country revivalists like Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, and Tyler Childers, and classic country artists like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard.
Misisipi Mike Wolf is a traditional country and folk singer/songwriter whose music has been featured in over two dozen major television shows and feature films. He was twice voted as "Best Singer/Songwriter" by readers of the San Francisco Bay Guardian. He has toured Europe six times backed by members of Belle & Sebastian, Teenage Fanclub and Camera Obscura. In addition he’s toured the US countless times backed by members of American Aquarium, Flamin’ Groovies, Henhouse Prowlers and Front Country among others. Misisipi Mike is also a member of the band Actual Wolf (Redhouse Records). Actual Wolf has toured nationally with Trampled By Turtles. Mike is currently based in Duluth Minnesota.
A Midwesterner with deep roots in Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, Matthew R. Sayles has opened and performed with country, bluegrass, rock & roll and western swing legends like Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, Asleep at the Wheel, Larry Sparks, Hot Club of Cowtown, and Scarlet Rivera (fiddle player on Bob Dylan's "Rolling Thunder Review" and the album Desire) as well as long list of other highly talented regional and national roots music performers.
